Good morning all,
I have an idea for a new feature on our website and want to see if others think it would be a good idea, and see if corporate would consider implementation. In the real world, pilots that are type rated are not restricted to one single series (737 type rating means you fly the -700, -800, and -900), so I feel that when under “find a flight” or “random flight”, instead of the equipment drop down menu restricting us to select one single series to refine our search, allow us to select multiple equipment types so we can see, for example, All destination potentials In any 737 from a selected origin.
Thoughts?

Isn't there a check box that says "My Rated Equipment types" on Find-A-Flight?
Cheers!

Yes, but I don't want to see all the dozens of equipment types i'm rated in; I just want 737's.

For example, out of KATL, if I check that box and sort by equipment type, I can only see up to 150 results, so the list never gets down the 737's; it stops at 717's, because again, the maximum results is 150 to be shown.

You can search by equipment type, however you can fly any flight that is in our schedule database with any equipment type as long as you have the rating and that you can fly the flight safely with proper fuel reserves.

I know that, too. I'm just looking to maybe add a tool that some people may find useful.

I like the idea, I've been trying to do random multi-leg assignments, and it would be cool to get flights in the "737 family", or "A320 family", etc. rather than just 737-800.

Another suggestion. This is more of an ACARS feature.
I often use the "Search Online Schedule" from the ACARS Flight menu to pick my next destination.
I've been flying with a 'connected logbook' for probably the last year or more. I always have the "Start from Last Airport" box checked in ACARS.
IF the "Start from Last Airport" box is checked in the ACARS settings, and I select the "Search Online Schedule" while enroute, instead of it showing me the flight I'm flying, why not have it populate the "Departure Airport" with my current destination? (but still populate the "Maximum Results" with 40 or some number...

A more general solution I guess would be to allow the selection of more than 1 aircraft type, in the "Find a Flight" and "Random Flight". Currently, we can select 1, rated types, or all. Then people who want to fly the "737 family" can select -800, -700, -600, etc. It also solves a scenario where I might be rated for multiple aircraft but may only want to fly a certain subset of those (based on my payware or mood). Yes, I can manually select a set of legs and change the equipment type, but it would be a nice feature to request (for example) 5 continuous legs and have the system give me a set using a combination of my desired airframes.

I have also asked for more than 150 results, or pagination in the search results, but there doesn't seem to be an appetite for it, unfortunately.

The difficulty is that the system unfortunately has no concept of "family". One could try and parse the names, but that breaks down quickly - especially with the Airbus narrow-bodies.

I haven't marked the issue as WONTFIX yet. I still question whether there's a better way to narrow down your search beyond "everything from Atlanta".
Cheers!

I understand that it perhaps seems like very much an edge case, and I don't deny that the search can be narrowed down, but I run into the 150 result limit several times per week just in how I approach what I want to fly, to where, and when. I know adding pagination to a search results table can be a real pain, so I do think that increasing the upper limit of results to 300 or 500 or whatever could be the answer, but perhaps that's equally hard.
