Been out of pocket again. FS2004 is really blurry. I can't get it to clean up using the fs9.cfg tweaks. I tried XP-11 and the FSX demos but I don't know. I know I need to move off FS2004 but those other sims are too heavy on eye candy. I can't make a decision. I haven't been flying. All I want is a flight simulator that doesn't need a expensive computer that flies well and looks okay. Just clean scenery nothing fancy. I am here to fly not a flight simulator beauty show.
thanks

Hello Doyle. I'm sure others will jump in and give you all kinds of recommendations. Why do you think you have to move off FS2004? Have you tried deleting the fs9.cfg file letting the sim create a new one on startup? This is a form of reset. You could also reinstall the sim. Another cheap way would be to transition to FSX:SE. This one is easy to install, cheap ($24.99 right now on https://store.steampowered.com/app/314160/Microsoft_Flight_Simulator_X_Steam_Edition/) may run OK on your PC, and you would definitively see an improvement.

I have tried it but every time it reloads it blurs again the second time. It's not a total blur. It's only a small area that's clear then further out it starts blurring. I just got tired of it deleted the entire installation.
Edit: If I can get proper help how to configure FSX SE to be stable and look decent without all the extra I will give it a try. Just no blurs no add-on scenery, looks decent no frame rate hits. I want default to have 0 blurs is all.
I tried the original FSX demo. There is no demo for FSX SE. If there was I could determine alot easier.

Doyle,
My experience with the blurry scenery is the mesh resolution and texture resolution. Have you tried adjusting those in your configuration settings?

I don't know how.
So we know what I have to work with
Intel Iris Graphics Plus (on the same dye as the cpu comes with 10th gen i7's) 128mb dedicated vram but it shares up to 4gb but usually hovers around 1gb.
8GB system Ram

Texture Resolution can be adjusted in your settings inside of the sim.

Doyle I have XP11. Listening to a podcast by Austin Meyer and Ben Supnick is what convinced me. The sim models how air affects an aircraft (wings, drag, etc.). The eye candy is better but I will never go back to FSX. They are continually working to make XP11 even better too.
Here is the podcast: https://pcflight.net/episode-12-x-planes-austin-meyer-ben-supnik/
