It looks like you have enough CPU power to run any of the FSX/P3D sims (which rely heavily on the CPU). Not sure whether the graphics card will handle MSFS2020 (though the recent update to bring it to XBOX did improve frame rates). Having not used X-Plane, I cannot provide insight...

William,
Definitely a bit better setup than mine. I run AMD Ryzen 5 2600x with an 8gb AMD RX 590 GPU and 32 gb of RAM. I average around 40-60 fps and that’s with medium settings on P3Dv5.2. I am looking at the ryzen 7 eventually.

From what I have seen there are lots of folks on MSFS with the 10xxTI cards, I would say you should at least give it a go. MSFS is another CPU intensive software, most, including my 10850K, are bottlenecked by the CPU before it is bottle necked by the GPU. I am assuming that you will be running 1920x1080, obviously as you increase the resolution the more the GPU becomes an issue. As with all Software YRMV but it is definitely worth a look since MSFS is currently on sale.

William,
I’ve since upgraded from FSX Steam to P3D about two years ago. I haven’t looked back since upgrading. I just recently got V5 and it to me is worth it. It’s still like FSX back in the day but performs much better. I’ve been wanting to give XP11 a try. Best thing with P3D they have an excellent refund. If you’re not satisfied within 30 days you can ask for a refund I believe.

Nice. I might have to give that a try. P3Dv5 actually has runway slopes too. I definitely have another HDD dedicated to flight sim and other games. Might give that a go.

MSFS2020 for sure. Not sure for P3D v5.2. Require a lot more on graphics.

I'm running a Gigabyte X570 with an AMD Ryzen 7 3700XT, 8 core 3.8Ghz native, no overclocking. 32GB RAM, but a 2080Ti GPU driving a 32" 2K for the sim and a 28" 4K monitor for ACARS, VATSpy, ActiveSky P3D, vPilot.
P3D v5.2. I'll get 20-40 fps on the ground at FSDT, FlightBeam & other payware airports. At cruise fps varies from 30-50 and higher. FPS set to unlimited.

Nice setup Scott. I had to do a few modifications to windows to run my optimum performance.

On the FS2020 front, it definitely depends on the CPU more than the GPU. I'm running an I7 8700K @4.8 and a RTX 3090 and on a typical flight average fps are in the high 50's at 1440p with some dense areas and addon airports like ATL it periodically dips into the high 30's. Despite FS2020 being a new platform it still absolutely blasts one of your cores to 100% while the other cores hang in the 10-40% usage range, similar to FSX and P3D. Watching it in Dev Mode during flight, its main thread limited all the time meaning the the CPU is the bottleneck, the 3090 averages 40-60% usage with it going up into the mid 80% range in dense areas with lots of cloud cover and weather. Ironically enough, P3D is so CPU-bound, that when I changed from a 1080TI to a 3090, I saw an average FPS increase of 3 fps lol....Overall though, I really like FS2020, i'm just hoping we get some more study level payware planes soon.
