Good afternoon All,
On behalf of your entire Delta Virtual Airlines Operations Team, I am pleased to announce that we have a new equipment type program here at Delta Virtual Airlines. The ERJ-170 equipment program.
Many of you all probably remember a few years ago this project dubbed the ERJ-170 project was started by Chief Pilot Andrew Vane when he was serving as Vice President of Operations. Andrew put the ground work into getting this program started for us to add to our list of programs. Sadly this project was put on the back burner for a few years until Andrew stepped down from VP of Operations, and then Kevin Lundy stepped in as VP of operations. Sadly due to time constraints and other issues taking priority Kevin wasn’t able to finish what Andrew started.
Today we are happy to announce this program is now an operational equipment program here at Delta Virtual Airlines, with Matthew Whitaker who is stepping up to oversee the program as Chief Pilot. We are excited to have Chief Pilot Matthew Whitaker take the reigns of this new equipment program. We know he will do an excellent job in overseeing the daily operations of this new program.
We want to extend a huge thank you to Andrew Vane and Kevin Lundy for their time and energy spent on this project as well as others who worked many long hours on this project, to include AD of Operations Chris Frasure, and AD of Operations Andres Honegger, this program would not be here today if it weren’t for these awesome staff members. We also want to extend an even bigger thank you to Matthew Whitaker for being willing to serve as the Chief Pilot in the new ERJ-170 equipment program.
We are excited to see this new equipment program grow in the coming years. Should you have any questions about this program please reach out to ops@deltava.org or Matthew_Whitaker@DeltaVA.org

How about current ERJ secondary ratings we have? Most would have ERJ-170, ERJ-175, ERJ-190, ERJ-195. I have filed many pireps in mostly the ERJ-175. I won't even entertain the thought testing and just move on.
Edit: I just read through this posting https://www.deltava.org/thread.do?id=0x23f88
Looks like I don't have to worry about it. It was said people with the ratings will be grandfathered in.

To clarify this, your ratings will not be taken away at all. However if one wishes to transfer into the program, they will need to take the First Officers Exam and then go through the normal transfer process.

Ty for clarification. I am still unclear about the check ride part. Many have the rating for the E-Jets as secondary rating. I flew many flights in it. Filed a lot of pireps with it. Still check ride is needed if a transfer is to be requested?

Correct. You have the secondary rating in the airframe from another program. however, if you want to join the program, you would need to pass the FO exam and the CR.

Doyle,
This is one of the limitations of the system whenever a new aircraft program is created. Us old timers can remember when the 757/767 program was split and it created some headaches or awhile but after a while it worked it self out. Plus, sometimes the check rides are fun to do just as a new challenge. For someone who has flown the ERJ quite a bit and has a level 2 or higher rating, this check ride would be fairly straightforward and easy. I am looking for some test subjects to test out the transfer process to make sure all the kinks are worked out if your interested.

I will likely take the tests and checkride although I have lots of flights already in the E170. It's my partial OCD of seeing it on the list and not being complete! lol I may take the test in the next day or so, would likely be the weekend to complete check ride.
