Just testing the waters out there to see if the upgrade is worth or not really? In have a juicy system just updated but left the hefty spending of the GPU for later.
You guys think I’ll notice a great deal of difference in performance?
Thanks!!

it's been three years on my 3080 and it's struggling to keep up. You're possibly only experiencing half the sim with a 2080 particularly if using payware and MSFS2020.

If you consider that many GPU's have dropped price in the last months. I certainly would go for nothing lower than a RTX4070Ti. It would benefit MSFS more due DLSS native support.

I have a 3080 which I love but cost me $600, the most I've ever spent on a gpu. In hindsight, I would have gotten a 3060 TI for $400 and probably been fine. I think that 4060ti is one of the best investments you can make without spending over $1000. Q8pilot has a 24GB 3090 or something like that in the $1500 range.

Q8Pilot....HA HA HA HA HA
Anyways...there is a lot to consider. When it comes to RTX cards, it isn't only about hpw.much VRAM it has, it's also how FAST the VRAM is. Each generation processes/renders faster than the generation before it.
Your CPU plays a huge role as well. If you have a really good CPU, you can put in a really good Graphics Card.
Without knowing specs, I'd recommend at least a 3080 and at least 8GB VRAM. Preferably more.
If you can find a 40 series....get it. You can run any sim easily. And I own/use them all

The other benefit to consider with the 40 series cards are the frame generation capability. This can be run with DLSS or TAA for AA and really smooths out the sim. I use TAA because DLSS makes the PMDG displays look blurred. While it is "fake frames" I have no more inconsistencies and 99% of the time the sim runs butter smooth even at large payware airports. I have a 13700K paired with an RTX 4080 and some areas still had issues even with settings not close to maxed, frame generation cured this. The software is unfortunately still very CPU bottlenecked. I am mainthread limited the majority of the time and there is always one core that is maxed. So even on 13700K with all P-cores on 5.0 ghz it still hits mainthread limits.
