Been a laptop guy my whole life, looking to get a desktop. Have heard great things about digitalstorm for years especially their customer service and tech support and engineering. Sick of big name brands that have awful support and limited upgradability. Was looking at this rig and welcome feedback. Some questions below:
Chassis Model: Digital Storm Corsa
Core Components
Processor: AMD Ryzen 9 9950X3D (16-Core) 5.7 GHz Turbo (3D V-Cache) (Zen 5) (I am curious what peoples' thoughts are on AMD Ryzen vs Intel Ultra, I have always been an intel guy, have heard AMD has good things for MSFS though. Intel is a bit cheaper.)
Motherboard: MSI MPG X870E CARBON (Wi-Fi) (AMD X870) (Up to 3x PCI-E Devices) (DDR5) (I know little about motherboards, so welcome any feedback here)
System Memory: 64GB DDR5 5200MT/s Kingston FURY RGB
Graphics Card(s): 1x GeForce RTX 5080 16GB (VR Ready) (I feel like I do not need the 5090, am i right?)
Power Supply: 1000W Digital Storm Performance Series (Semi-Modular) (80 Plus Gold)
Storage / Connectivity
Storage Set 1: 1x SSD M.2 (2TB Samsung 990 PRO) (NVM Express) (this would be the MSFS/OS drive)
Storage Set 2: 1x SSD M.2 (1TB Samsung 990 PRO) (NVM Express) (For Lightroom, photoshop, rhino, etc)
HDD Set 2: 1x SSD M.2 (1TB Digital Storm M.2 Performance Series) (NVM Express) (for storage of photos)
Internet Access: High Speed Network Port (Supports High-Speed Cable / DSL / Network Connections)
Multimedia
Sound Card: Integrated Motherboard Audio
Digital Storm Engineering
Extreme Cooling: H20: Stage 3: Digital Storm Vortex Liquid CPU Cooler (Triple Fan) (Fully Sealed + No Maintenance)
Cable Management: Premium Cable Management (Strategically Routed & Organized for Airflow)
Chassis Fans: Digital Storm Performance Series (RGB Fans)
Internal Lighting: Remote Controlled Advanced LED Lighting System (Multiple RGB Color Modes)
Bring on all the comments you got

Hey Remy!
I would always suggest people to build their own PC. You don`t to be a real tech savvy person! There are many videos out there. I always build my own PC. Also, there are many sites where you can start looking for parts: https://pcpartpicker.com/ and others.
Only a suggestion!

Hi Thiago,
As much as it would be fun to build a rig, i do not have the expertise and am nervous to spend that much on parts and build something i can’t warranty or get tech service / help with in future, would rather have a company thats trustworthy build it and do the testing and all that and give me the support in future. I did a quick look also on pcpart picker with same specs and the price difference is not a lot +/- 250 before taxes, so..

You appear to be on the right track with the AMD x3D processor and GeForce Graphics Card to get the most out of MSFS. If you don't feel comfortable with a home build, you are on a good path. Match that up with a cool 4k monitor and enjoy years of great flying!

Thanks Jim, thinking of going dowqn to the 9900x3d instead of 9950, but yes AMD it is.
Thanks for the suggestions for the laptop, unfortunately, it did not want to work with MSFS anymore.. Still good for basic computing though.

I was a build-your-own kinda guy for decades, the last purchase I made was a complete system, the reason being you save money. Oh sure you can't get the exact brand video or dram perhaps, but you CAN specify the type, say you want to be sure to get a 4090 or 5080 for example, and you want 32 or 64G. I bought my system from Newegg, this has been 5+ years ago and have been happy. What I am willing to do is upgrade components, I bought a extra 32G and put it in. I've added storage, and right now am contemplating a new video board. And, as Remy says, there is a real risk of having an issue and then DUH what do you do I was an field service tech for fab equipment early in my career so of course its no issue...

Oh, an afterthought.... while I said buying a complete systems is a savings, I would emphasize one point: don't lock yourself into a small closed chasis, get a 'deskside' format, makes it FAR easier to upgrade or add things down the road. Sounds like you, Remy, and going to "fill it up" pretty well however. For me, I had only 32G so had a couple extra sockets making it easy to double the dram, and a couple NVME drives were easy to add as well. I'm saying this more for anyone else that might read the thread later.
