It would be helpful if on the charter flight page when you request one, or somewhere on the site there were some guidelines or typical information for:
1. how long one should expect to wait for approval or disapproval
2. who it is on the staff that is able to approve or dissaprove charter flights (i know not all staff can)
3. what is an acceptable charter flight

Right now it is a bit of a black box.

Hi Remy,

That is a fair point.

The Pilot’s Manual does cover charter flights, but I agree that having a short reminder directly on the charter request page could make the process clearer for pilots.

The main point is that charter flights are meant for exceptional situations where the normal DVA schedule does not cover a specific route. They are reviewed by Operations Staff on a time-availability basis, so approval time may vary depending on staff availability.

From my side, when reviewing a charter request, I usually check whether the required information is present, whether the route and aircraft type are reasonable, and whether there is any obvious conflict with DVA rules or operational limitations. If everything looks in order, I normally approve it.

A short note on the request page explaining this would probably help reduce the “black box” feeling.
