Hello
My general coments on DVA 2006...
First of all, I know its a great and difficult task to build such a beautiful "airline manual and log book" GREAT JOB to all!.
I just wanted to comment that it is very difficult to search for a flight. First of all, (either I don't understand) or why are all of the departure and arrivlal times not accurate (I double checked with the real Delta Airlines schedule and times seem to be not coordinated).
Second, The option we had before to search a flight by equipment (ie, search for only 767-300 flights) was very helpfull. We should have that option again.
Third, I suggest (of course it could be only me, but anyway its a suggestion) that the Departure and Arrival airports and cities should be alphabetically organized by city name and not by airport code. Many airports in the database dont have the same ICAO codes that we get acustomed to use in flight plans. It would be easier to search for the city by city name and not by airport code.
Regarding the water cooler: Is the "search" option going to be available? That helped a lot to search for specific issues and frequently asked issues on flying.
Fifth: Is a "signature request" option comming soon? I requested a signature on DVA 2005 when I became a 767 Captain and I havent recieved anything since (this was about two or two and half months ago. I tried to request again a signature when I changed aircrafts to the 777 and the browser would allow it.
Sixth. The flight assignment option is actually a great addition. Congrats!
Seventh: I find the option in the "Level D Sim" forums to tell a pilot when an entry has been made into its water cooler thread very useful. That could help a lot of us pilots.
The general layout of DVA 2006 is amazing and it looks as if it has the capability of exploting it to the max, especially the "search for a flight" and "pilot center" options. Great work.
Just some comments regarding my views on the web page.
Please don't take this as an agressive tone, it was only ment to express my views and maybe build some constructive criticism.
I hope you have a great day and a good flight(s)
Respectfully yours
Isidoro

First off, there's no need to apologize or worry. Development of this web site is a constant process, and we depend on members like yourself to provide feedback, let us know of problems and generally improve the site. Willingness and ability to make changes is a competetive advantage for us.
First, the reason why the flight times don't match up is that we're still using an old ~2004 vintage schedule. I do have the latest schedule, and there's an open Issue to import it, but it's waiting until the site settles down and I'm not fixing more urgent fires. We will be up to date really, really soon.
Your flight search issues should be addressed by Build 29. I finally sat down last night and fixed the Find a Flight page so that it does some better searching and sorting. It's not 100% of what you asked for, but it's closer. I'm always open to further fixes there to help pilots.
The Water Cooler search was temporarily hidden for performance reasons. A database search on the water cooler is a hideously expensive operation, and if two or three people run a search at the same time, we can slow the database down dramatically. One complication we have is that mySQL does not let me create full-text indexes on a table that supports foreign keys. One day it might become a real database.
Signature Requests were something that didn't get converted over. To be honest, every time we add this functionality our signature desginer gets swamped with dozens and dozens of requests. I'm going to try and develop a basic HTML/CSS signature that can be used as a default and requires no work.
The idea of supporting notifications for a Pilot's Water Cooler threads is a good one. Add an issue.
Cheers!
