I have uploaded Build 33 of the web application to the servers. Build 33 contains a number of significant improvements under the covers, which will hopefully go a long way towards curing the memory leak and task scheduler issues we are currently suffering from. You may not notice a lot of changes, but one significant change will become apparent rather quickly.

One condition of membership at DVA/AFV has always been a valid e-mail address on file. With Build 33, we currently have the means of enforcing this for active pilots, as well as new registrants. Build 33 fixes a number of bugs in the registration process, but also introduces the validation process to active pilots.

If you change your e-mail address, your new address will not take effect until you validate it - you'll get an e-mail at the new address with a validation code that you will need to add into a form. Until you validate your address, you're going to be unable to enter the Pilot Center - you'll get the validation screen.

You will still have access to the Water Cooler, so if you run into bugs or errors you can give me a heads up there or in the Issue Tracker. DVA2006 reduces the number of e-mail notifications we send, but we do send a few critical ones. Our expectations have always been that your inbox remains open to what little we send, and it's not fair to those staff members who get 20-30 bounce messages each time they send a mailing.

So, if the e-mail is never validated, how soon are they purged from the DB? Do we have to manually purge them out of the system?

There is a (currently disabled) scheduled task to purge people for inactivity.
