I have added the nav lights. They are easy to install with common fx_navred / fx_navgre files. The strobes are active gauge files. the only one I've found is an MD81-strobe file from an American Airlines plane I down loaded some time ago. I have also moved the recognition lights and changed them from the fx_navwhi (white) to the 757 nav yellow. They are brighter.
This is what I have added / changed to add nav and strobes in the aircraft.CFG file located at C:\Program Files\Microsoft Games\Flight Simulator 9\Aircraft\DVA_MD_88.
[lights]
//Types: 1=beacon, 2=strobe, 3=navigation, 4=cockpit, 5=landing, 6=taxi, 7=recognition, 8=wing, 9=logo, 10– Cabin
light.0 = 1, 4.65, 0.00, 8.20, fx_beaconb
light.1 = 1, -4.00, 0.00, -4.30, fx_beaconb
light.2 = 9, -51.80, 2.50, 5.00, fx_fxlogot
light.3 = 9, -51.80, -2.50, 5.00, fx_fxlogot
light.4 = 7, -18.50, 53.85, 2.50, Opensky_757_nav_yellow
light.5 = 7, -18.50, -53.85, 2.50, Opensky_757_nav_yellow
light.6 = 7, 14.45, 4.50, -1.45, Opensky_757_nav_yellow
light.7 = 7, 14.45, -4.50, -1.45, Opensky_757_nav_yellow
light.8 = 3, -14.00, 53.50, 2.50, fx_navgre
light.9 = 3, -14.00, -53.50, 2.50, fx_navred
light.10 = 4, 68.00, 0.00, 5.50, fx_vclight
light.11 = 3, -14.50, 0.20, 2.50, MD81-strobe
light.12 = 3, -14.50, -0.20, 2.50, MD81-strobe
I've explained the how, why and what to do's in an other section of the water cooler.
Always make a backup!!! and the changes will be viewed upon the next loading of the aircraft.

Also check Water Cooler / Airline Operations / MD-88 Lights for notes / code changes for MD-88 lights.

The landing lights are a tail hook function (Shift T) or a "gauge" function built into the aircraft model code like opening doors (Shift E). They fold into / outof the wings. These are a very cool function!

I work around mad dogs and the lighting system is a little different then most. The lights flip down from the under-side of the tip of the wing. I looked around, because from where I was looking at them, it didn't look like they were that sturdy, but current MD-90 PDF state the landing light extension speed as 350K (basically unrestricted). Thanks Richard, the copy-paste works great (already had all the fx's hehe ). The wing lights did seem a little out of place from the default. Any chance DeltaVa could incorporate these changes?
