This is what the lighting config looks like on my MD-88. If you need help with this let me know. You don't really need strobes but they can be added too. Strobes are made for each aircraft. Strobes from a 757 file do not work on a MD-88. You will have to find a MD-8x strobe file from one of your down loads.

OH, I have added all Atlanta AI traffic and current gates for Delta, United, American, Air Tran, etc... I'm also using the "New" Atlanta airport AFCAD and scenery as it is projected to look in 2008. All the current gates set in AFCAD are with the correct airlines to date. I've down loaded so many I can't remember which one I'm using. I just kept adding and removing scenery, AFCAD, and bgl files until Atlanta looked like the massive traffic jam it is in real life.
The sim tower gets so over loaded sometimes it crashes aircraft into eachother. It's fun just to drive the aircraft tug out to the approach end of the runway and watch all the action.
I don't have much payware only aircraft. All Atlanta scenery / AI traffic is free ware from various sites.

It was on Avsim.com or Simviation.com. I think it was Simviation.
Sorry, I can't remember the exact site and I've got about at least a thousand FS files now. I don't remember where I put the downloaded ATL files after the install. There are also lots of AI programs installed, UPS, American, Delta, Air Tran, etc..., over the last few months.

Richard,
Could you please send me the copy of the AFCAD file. It looks really nice and it would be a lot better than the default ATL AFCAD. Email is on the left.
Thanks a lot!
Ryan

I have added the nav lights. They are easy to install with common fx_navred / fx_navgre files. The strobes are active gauge files. the only one I've found is an MD81-strobe file from an American Airlines plane I down loaded some time ago. I have also moved the recognition lights and changed them from the fx_navwhi (white) to the 757 nav yellow. They are brighter.
This is what I have added / changed to add nav and strobes in the aircraft.CFG file located at C:\Program Files\Microsoft Games\Flight Simulator 9\Aircraft\DVA_MD_88.
[lights]
//Types: 1=beacon, 2=strobe, 3=navigation, 4=cockpit, 5=landing, 6=taxi, 7=recognition, 8=wing, 9=logo, 10– Cabin
light.0 = 1, 4.65, 0.00, 8.20, fx_beaconb
light.1 = 1, -4.00, 0.00, -4.30, fx_beaconb
light.2 = 9, -51.80, 2.50, 5.00, fx_fxlogot
light.3 = 9, -51.80, -2.50, 5.00, fx_fxlogot
light.4 = 7, -18.50, 53.85, 2.50, Opensky_757_nav_yellow
light.5 = 7, -18.50, -53.85, 2.50, Opensky_757_nav_yellow
light.6 = 7, 14.45, 4.50, -1.45, Opensky_757_nav_yellow
light.7 = 7, 14.45, -4.50, -1.45, Opensky_757_nav_yellow
light.8 = 3, -14.00, 53.50, 2.50, fx_navgre
light.9 = 3, -14.00, -53.50, 2.50, fx_navred
light.10 = 4, 68.00, 0.00, 5.50, fx_vclight
light.11 = 3, -14.50, 0.20, 2.50, MD81-strobe
light.12 = 3, -14.50, -0.20, 2.50, MD81-strobe
I've explained the how, why and what to do's in an other section of the water cooler.
Always make a backup!!! and the changes will be viewed upon the next loading of the aircraft.
