You've got to be kidding me right?
The default GPS is perfectly fine for VATSIM if you're going to navigate by GPS.

Why do you feel that the current GPS is inadequate, and what do you propose to replace it with?
Cheers!

I have always used the GPS and find it very simple once you get the hang of it. The only difference between this gps and the one on fs 2002 is that some VORs are different and you have to choose the right one or you will be flying to England or something. All you have to do, though is pick the right one from the list and it will direct you to it. You just have to get used to it. And Stephen, what's wrong with using the GPS? That is what technology is for, to make life more convenient. I guess you still watch movies on the VCR, too. Just kidding.

Nothing wrong with the default gps - its perfectly fine to navigate with - only its not very realistic for a large jet to navigate by gps. Use VORs and charts like Stephen suggested - it's much more fun! Also there's nothing wrong with flying to England! We're not that bad!

I didn't say that there was anything wrong with using GPS All I said was that you can fly a flight using VOR's, SIDs and STARs without even taking a peek at the GPS. I'd prefer VOR use though.
(It's good that youre kidding)

I'm curious Jesus what sort of features you'd like to see included with "new" gps. I'm sure all the features you could think of are actually included in a modern plane with an FMC and a nice MFD with a NAV page. :-) Try putting out a few dollars for PMDG's 737 series planes. That might be a logical progression for you in your career with DVA.

As Shane suggested. Why not spend money on a nice payware aircraft. If you dont like the GPS then another option is a fine payware addon.
FeelThere CRJ-200--Available at www.wilcopub.com
PMDG 737NG and Rest of PMDG Fleet--www.precisionmanuals.com
Plenty more Payware sites--www.flight1.com, www.simmarket.com
I recommend any PMDG product and the FeelThere CRJ is a nice aircraft.

You betcha Will! Just enter your desired VOR frequency and course into the panel in the middle of the glareshield (the spot next to all the Autopilot stuff). Then switch the HSI selection to VOR with the knob and fly the needle. It's that simple! So if I ever want to fly like a 727, but I really want to fly *in* a 767, I can just use that

I fly VATSIM for personal and Airline flights and have never had a problem with the default gps. Wonderful tool. It can however be sometimes inconvenient to do all the navigating in the many pages of the gps when you need it quick.
