Will Delta Virtual Airlines ever purchase and maintain a "real" forum, such as a phpBB product?
I believe this will take us to the next level in communication and enjoyment. The current Water Cooler message board system, to my belief, lacks many options that some of the other forums out there have.

phpBB, as Luke already stated is a pain in the buttox to be migrate from our current Lotus Notes (I think) db and form.
Plus its a lot more 'exploitable' than Notes is.

Gaston, we haven't used Lotus Domino in almost a year now - the whole point of DVA2006 was to migrate away from that. With that said, if there are any features in freely available forum software that you'd want to see, I'm all ears. (On a side note, we will probably never "purchase" anything - our goal is to use free software whenever possible to simplify licensing issues and be frugal with costs.)

I love the simplicity of Luke's forum, yet I like even more its vast functionality, withouth throwing a ton of buttons and links all over the screen with programs like phpBB (drives you crazy sometimes)
This is the best forum I have been into so far.

I like this board too, the look and feel fit the rest of the site.
However, some features found on other boards are missing:
1. Displaying hosted pictures (allowing multiple picture threads, pictures in replies and all that without taking sapce from the hosting).
2. Search options that we do not have here.
3. Linking options (here you can only put the full link).
I don't think we really need simleys and other crap like that, but as I stated elsewhere, I think allowing multiple pictures in a thread is a must.

About the only additions that would really improve this BBS are a search feature and new post indications. As it is the only way I can tell what I've read and what I haven't is by the date, and that isn't 100% effective. The lack of a search means I may be asking a question or looking for information that's already available, but have no way to find it other than looking at every single topic on every single page. That only works if the topic contains what I'm looking for, if it was answered in a thread with a different topic line I'll never know it.
Still, even lacking those items this is a good place. I've been a member of far more BBS forums than I can begin to remember, and it's very rare to find one this polite and well behaved. Even the forums for my online gaming group (Crusty old Fossil Rockers [CoFR] if any of you have heard of us) get rather...testy...at times. Then again, with all the different personalites (500+ members or so, I think, from all over the world) that's to be expected.
Thanks everyone for making this a nice place to visit.

Barry - There is a search capability AND a New Threads link (look over to the left under the 'Water Cooler' links). You also have email notification capability so that you can receive a message any time anyone posts to the thread. Both work quite nicely

The problem with the New Threads link, is that very often you read one of the new threads, go back to read more and it has been reset...I assume because you've looked at it once and now they are no longer new. A little irritating at times...
