You better pass the MD-11 checkride now before Gaston change it to a new one... He's thinking about a 30/35 kts crosswinds with 1/4 vis on a runway without ILS .. lol .. I know he's evil
Gary, you have another email address? the airmail.net one bounced the email I sent you.
Regards

What other type of approach would allow 1/4mi visibility other than an ILS? Can't think of one. Most non precision approaches are 1 mi visibility, even localizer approaches are around 2400ftRVR.

Hi guys,
Visibility was actually 1/2 SM, and as George said, without ILS. The 1/2 SM visibility would dictate a CAT II landing by FAA Regs.
The MD-11 rating is finally on the shelf, and hopefully, really soon, I'll be able to make some use of it... thanks to George and Scott.
The email is a question mark.. it's been working fine for me (rivanwood@airmail.net), so if it doesn't work, I'm clueless.
Thanks again,
Gary

Gaston would say it builds character LOL...what was your weights? Also in my old age(49)Ihave to wear reading glasses to see anything up close and I hate doing visual approaches a night.More of the new generation of VATSIM controllers seem to give visual approach clearances when conditions are sometimes questionable...I think it puts hair on their chests. So VERY good luck and welcome aboard in advance Sir!!
SeeYa Up There!!

You need to fly your first flight first, promote to Captain, and then you can move up by taking the exam of your desired equipment first. Once you've passed the exam you can put in a Transfer request for an additional rating or equipment program transfer.
Cheers!

Hi Andrew,
I know exactly what you mean.. personally, I think these Check Rides have gotten _way_ out of hand. Initially the purpose of a Check Ride was to determine a pilot's ability to fly/control the aircraft, but lately, it's become a CP contest to see who can create the most ridiculous scenario imaginable. Don't be afraid to take CR-related issues to Delta management (via email preferably, not thru the WC). If what's being asked of you in the CR, isn't fair, ethical, or proper, they'll fix it.
I also realize that it isn't easy for a Senior Captain to voice his/her issue or concern, when that issue or concern may very well appear to be a complaint about the system. Know that we all love this VA, but sometimes we must say enough is enough, because we love this VA. i'm with ya Mr. Rogers.
Sincerely,
Gary Fournerat
