Tom: The PPL course is taught by real world pilots...It is like the private pilot course in the real world. You are taught to fly the EMB 120 without the use of a FMC or autopilot. You handfly the airplane thru the lessons, cross country flights, etc. Some of the flights are flown on VATSIM, but most are flown on a multi player connection with a "Copilot" program that puts you and your instructor in the same airplane. At this time we are only using FS2004, but working on FSX planes.....hope this answers your question.

Take the course. As a real world pilot and avid VA pilot I can tell you that it is an incrdible experience. You will learn that you can actually fly these aircraft proficiently. The instructor is in your plane and communicating with you during the entire flight. When I first started VA flying I did alot of "push button flying". Autopilot immediately after takeoff and all the way in until right at the runway. Now the only time I use autopilot is on the long trips after the take off/climb and then handfly the descent and approach to landing. You will love it.

Tom,
Yes you will need to buy the FSNet Copilot, NOT the ABICUS Copilot. The FSNet is only $5 when you use the SHAREWFRIED coupoin they have on thier site. This gets you unlimited use.
There may be another issue. Looking at your logbook, you seem to be using FSX. This version is not yet compatible withthe Flight Academy. You must have FS9 to go thru the course.

http://www.gates.to is the website and as Rob said, it's $5 for the software - not a bad deal, considering what you get for it
