I initiated contact with our preferred hosting provider for DVA2006 and AFV2006. My goal is to have a deployed application on the new servers by the end of the month, ready to test. I am aiming for a 60-90 day beta period, with the new site going live around Labour Day.
Unlike many software programs, DVA2006 will NOT be a closed beta. You are welcome to be a part of the "beta team" and futz around in the new site, so long as you provide feedback. The more people we have hitting the site, the better we're going to be. While the testing is going on, I'll be finishing up the new ACARS server build as well as working on a fleet refresh.
Cheers!

I think it's the first Monday in September. I always seem to be working on Labor Day so I don't pay much attention to it.

I reached a significant milestone today - I unearthed the old Java ACARS server that I had written in February and March of 2004. This hasn't seen the light of day in a long time. There are significant advantages to be had by running the ACARS server in the same virtual machine as DVA2006, and that's what I'm going to do.
It's always a neat experience to look at code you wrote several months or years ago and see what crazy drugs you were smoking at the time. I managed to rip out a lot of code that has been duplicated in the DVA2006 infrastructure, and I've now got the server starting and authenticating properly. Ross made a few additions to the ACARS protocol that I need to add in (mostly in trivial areas like PING and QUIT messages) but I expect to have the server ready to test out in the next few days.
Cheers!
