The new system was implemented about two to three weeks ago (roughly). Just another example of how the senior staff is pushing forward to keep DVA on top.

All stage 1 and stage 2 exams are now multiple choice and if you fill in all the answers, auto-grading. If you skip one, well, you'll have to wait for the humans to come along LOL
Stage 3 will be converted hopefully before the end of the month, then Stage 4 after that...
Along with the multiple choice are other changes in the exams - the higher the stage, the more questions you have

I don't like the idea about the multiple choice. I think its wayy to easy, no studying required, the
answer is right in front of your face. like in school, the end the quarter tests are written and the end of the
year tests are multiple choice, Alot more have trouble with the written then the multiple choice
including myself. But if its easier on the staff and quicker then I have no problem with it,
After all they are the ones keeping deltava in the sky

"Lucky me" is exactly why Air France does not have multiple guess exams. You do not get lucky at Air France; you will either know the exam material or you will not pass.
There is no guesswork involved.

There is a way to almost completely eliminate the guesswork from a multiple choice exam. This is one of the reasons why the 777 exams are taking longer to switch to the muptiple choice format than all the other programs.

Say Mike... check this out...
Example Exam Question: What is transition altitude?
Using the old system, the correct answer could be "FL180", "the altitude at which you transition to/from the standard atmospheric pressure setting", or "depends on which country you're in". And since this question is relative to all of our airframe programs, it was used by several of them. And each program had a different "correct" answer. You could start off in the CRJ program and answer that question one way, and get that same answer marked wrong when you answered it in the 727 program. The bottom line being we're suppose to be testing the pilots to enhance their aviation knowledge, not penalizing and confusing them with exam questions that are ambiguous at best.
So, in the name of nothing more than just being fair to our pilots, George has taken the ambiguities out, and through methods Adam mentioned above, "eliminated the guesswork from a multiple choice exam". In the process, our exams have gone from being totally subjective (open to interpretation by the grader) to being totally objective. I'd call that progress. WELL DONE GEORGE!!

It varies - lower stages have less questions and higher stages have more questions
80% passing for Captain and 72 to 73% for First Officer, depending on the stage. For stage 1, this is 16 out of 20

I do not remember these questions, but if they are infact regarding vatsim (non procedure) and not related to the operation of the aircraft, I am not sure they have a place on the exam. Of course that is for the staff to decide.

I think it does have a place, regardless if you fly online or not, it is in the encyclopedia, but it is more or less irrelavanet to the aircraft, but in place with the higher stages, or should put it respect, the higher you go the more prestige you carry with the airline, the questions have a place in my opinon because they are for operational use, with DVA, with choosing not to fly online, while that be your wish, it is a standard for DVA pilots to be well versed in the online methods which is where we go and fly our flag.. Just my idea on how and or why it might be in there.
Also, I do feel the exams are a little backwards, I would like to see changes of programs be granted with the test, to first officer which would be in RW more of a back-up you understand the aircraft and know how to fly but the captain is the pilot, where as a checkride might be a better use for promotion to captain in that program, just my two cents, I think that would be great, that way we could take the test move to the program, get to fly a few accredited flights, then when we feel we have mastered it and ready for captain we take a check ride to move to the left seat and be the one in control, just an idea?
