After 3 years, I think its time to re-invest in a system.

Any suggestions please regarding motherboard, Graphics card, RAM and processor. (or if there is any other things I should add). I really push FS9 to the limits, and I want to switch to FSX and push it to the outer limits as well.

Take a look around the forums, seems to be a lot of posts lately about upgrades and what people are going with.

I just did an upgrade to the i7-930, 6GB ram, and soon the new Nvidia Graphics chip.

If your looking for the budget route, I got a Phenom II, 4gb of ram and an HD4850 and I get a good 20fps with PMDG, REX, GEX on high settings. The new ATI 5000 series chips are the fastest and the Nvidia chip to compete won't be out for a little while and there is no guarantee they will outperfrom the new ATI cards.. I have omitted the video card because I currently have an eVGA 8800GTS 640MB but I am thinking about replacing it with an ATI 5770 or 5850.
Once I have enough money saved up I'll order the rest of the parts I need to build it. The dog has been sick which took care of my spending money.

Now you will read lots of posts here from people that will recommend buying the i7 920 or 930 and an X58 chipset motherboard. These are really great systems, but if you are on a budget like me you will save yourself about $100 on the motherboard by going with the P55 chipset. Triple channel DDR3 in real-world doesn't make enough difference to justify the extra expense of the X58 in my opinion and from what I've read. Now if you plan on running multiple video cards then the X58 is for you because with a P55 chipset the throughput is cut in half on the PCI-Express lane when you add a second GPU.

The good thing about reading the forums here at DVA is that we are all flight simmers so you know for the most part these systems are going to run FSX smoothly!

True Skylar but if I decide to upgrade my mobo or CPU in three or four years I'll have to spend another $100 on new OEM copy of Windows 7. The way the licensing works with MS OEM if you upgrade a major component such as a motherboard or CPU your copy is no longer valid. Video and memory upgrades are permitted. Its just a way for them to get more money. I tend to build a new system or upgrade in this time frame so I though it's better to pay the $170 now versus $200 or $300 down the road.

i haven't read the agreement, but it appears (http://blogs.zdnet.com/Bott/?p=1514&page=2) that OEM for a hobbyist is no longer legal. i could not care less either way, just giving you a heads up.
